Project Manager - Contract

Are you an experienced Project Manager looking for a great opportunity? if so we have several new contracts available across the UK!!!!

PURPOSE OF JOB:

You will be responsible for overseeing activities of all aspects of the project from survey, design manufacture, install and commissioning across various sites such as train stations, hospitals, supermarkets and warehouses. Ensuring all aspects of the contracts are completed in a safe and professional manner, on time, within costs and contractual obligations and reporting thereon. Health and safety during the project is of paramount importance and you will be responsible for ensuring all necessary procedures and methodology for the project are followed by each department. Efficient organisation of labour and materials will form a crucial part of this role. You will be the main point of contact from the customer, through to contractors and internal management within the business for all queries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring the contract terms are clearly understood between all parties
  • Ensure documentation is complete and up to date and managed through the project to show full visibility including weekly reports to management
  • Ensure daily / weekly meetings are held with the internal team and external teams as required
  • Ensure the customer is given visibility to the current state and future state of the project
  • Managing the customer expectation whilst achieving estimated costs
  • Liaising with internal departments such as sales, production and dispatch to ensure all is going to plan and on target and providing forecasts (cost to complete plus overall profitability)
  • Creating project plans for the customer and internal teams
  • Assess, manage and escalate any risks related to the projects
  • Understanding resource requirements and allocations
  • Manage issues that arise over the course of a project
  • Ensure that there is clear communication with all interested parties, regularly and documented
  • Ensure progress tools are updated and provided to management

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • 3 + years experience in a project management role; ideally within the lighting industry.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft (Excel and Project)
  • Ideally PRINCE 2 trained
  • HNC or higher in an engineering discipline

Technical Services Engineer

Are you Customer focused with a strong technical background within the electrical sector? Are you looking for a rewarding career to join a globally based UK manufacturer? PURPOSE OF JOB:

This role will require you to provide a technical support service to our customers and other departments here at Thorlux's head office. You will troubleshoot and diagnose problems reported in via phone and email, research resolutions, apply methods and run tests to ensure that specific issues have been resolved. You will be required to run electrical tests on our equipment in order to diagnose any potential issues, provide a resolution and then report to the client. You will be the first point of contact for all technical related issues so you must be extremely professional and possess excellent customer service skills - this is of paramount importance.

MAIN TASKS:

  • Maintain the Technical Helpline offering an informative technical service to our clients
  • Liaise with the Laboratory, Design and Drawing Offices on a day to day basis to include involvement in design and redesign of products
  • Deal with the product complaints and site rectification work, occasional site visits may be required
  • Liaise with suppliers on technical matters and advise customers on our product range, pre and post-sale
  • Production of circuit diagrams, instruction leaflets and control of control gear spares lists
  • Ongoing update of and additions to the technical documentation

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • You must have the ability to think logically
  • An excellent electrical background is essential
  • Excellent listening and questioning skills, combined with the ability to interact confidently with clients to establish what the problem is and explain the solution
  • A strong ability to work well in a team
  • Fantastic problem-solving skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

You will ideally have some form electrical or electronics qualification Experience of Word/Excel is essential

Trainee Project Engineer

We are looking for a Trainee Project Engineer to join our Northern team providing support to the Scottish Sales Region. This role will require close working with the Projects Department. This is a fantastic opportunity for growth along with an excellent training program. The role would require you to be based in Scotland working from home.

PURPOSE OF JOB:

To carry out surveys, designs and return on investments of any degree of complexity with some supervision. To have some understanding and be able to communicate matters relating to lighting applications.

MAIN TASKS:

  • Design of lighting schemes, prepare layout drawings and quotations to deadlines set.
  • To assist in the production of site surveys and energy/payback calculations. Duties shall include: -
  • Undertake site surveys.
  • Assist with the production and amendment of the energy spread sheet proposals where necessary to achieve the best result.
  • Assist with project management duties and onsite co-ordination of projects if required.
  • Undertake training in all methods, standards and regulations relating to lighting applications.
  • Undertake training in the application of lamps, LEDs, luminaires, and photometric data by technical appreciation.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally, verbally and in writing to customers and other staff at all times.
  • Engage in commercial activities such as exhibition stand duty as required.
  • To show a degree of flexibility with regards working hours. • To convey a professional manner at all times.
  • Create, maintain and manage your workload, meeting the deadlines set by the Manager.

This role will require close working with the Projects Department and will be extremely varied and challenging. This is a fantastic opportunity for growth along with an excellent training program. The role would require you to be based in Redditch, however, the surveying aspect of the role can be anywhere within the UK so you need to have a full clean driving licence.
