Forum Winterhude

Hamburg, Germany

Forum Winterhude is a bustling shopping centre in Winterhude, Hamburg.

The existing emergency lighting at the centre and its adjacent car park required replacement and upgrading to current technical standards. To avoid extensive renovations, additional wiring, and building works, the customer asked Thorlux to provide a technically safe, compliant solution that could be implemented quickly, cost-effectively, and with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

Using the wireless SmartScan lighting management system, Thorlux upgraded the emergency lighting quickly and cost-effectively. In all, approximately 550 emergency lights and illuminated escape signs were replaced, fully monitored, tested, and controlled via SmartScan. The new luminaires and signs are each backed by a long-life battery, meaning the existing, redundant central battery system could be removed.

This project demonstrates how emergency lighting can be modernised in large, existing buildings without incurring high renovation costs or lengthy construction times.
