Thorlux Lighting proudly presents the new Firefly – the next generation of discreet emergency lighting.

Building on nearly two decades of success, the new Firefly offers innovative features in a discreet, compact design. With five optic types (Area, Corner, Corridor, Corridor+, and Spot), Firefly can minimise the number of luminaires required in a design scheme while achieving compliance as per BS EN 1838:2024.

Thorlux has manufactured this sustainable, discreet luminaire with a 100% recycled polycarbonate housing and high-performance acrylic optic. The evolved, re-engineered design uses 35% less material, further increasing its sustainability. Recessed and anti-ligature versions are available now, with a surface-mounted version releasing shortly.

Users of SmartScan-equipped wireless Firefly luminaires can schedule routine tests of their emergency lighting on the online SmartScan lighting management platform, storing results remotely to ensure legislative safety compliance as per BS 5266:2016 and BS EN 50172:2024. Test scheduling avoids random testing occurring at inopportune times and comprises eleven monthly function tests and one full-duration annual test. With SmartScan, users can set the date and time of the duration test to suit their requirements; the system provides and logs test result reports and maintenance records.
