SmartScan Administrator


To manage the SmartScan system/procedures within the Site Services department. We require dedicated resources for managing SmartScan to ensure that all information is up to date and accurate on the website and all faults are dealt with in a timely manner. The opportunity will be there to create and develop processes to meet the challenges faced with the new controls system. The right person will be driven to succeed, a quick learner and willing to develop with the business.


  • The booking of SmartScan Platform 2 commissioning. This includes making contact with customers to arrange suitable site visit dates, gathering details and booking these into engineer’s calendars. Maintaining the site engineer’s diaries and amending if required to accommodate cancellations or short notice changes.

  • To email and receive site pre-commissioning forms to contractors and file with jobs as necessary.

  • Create service activities for commissioning visits on CRM for Engineers and include documentation, drawings, pre commissioning forms etc.

  • Following successful completion of commissioning, populate and issue commissioning certificates as necessary.

  • Responsibility for the SmartScan website including adding users, entering wattages, battery replacement dates and group names. Uploading certificates and drawings and entering contract details.

  • Enter all SmartScan contracts into our CRM system and record any relevant notes.

  • Receive drawings from an engineer to be turned into CAD files and submit these drawings to Lighting Design for processing. The expectation is to receive training on CAD and work towards managing the CAD drawings within the department.

  • Work with sales engineers for user details and drawings in order to meet the time frame set for giving customers access to their sites.

  • Monitor faults and liaise with engineers to establish if site visits are required.

  • Where visits are required you will make contact with customers to arrange suitable visit dates, gather details and book into our Engineer's Calendars.

  • Create service activities against contracts to properly track visits and parts.

  • Note any extraneous issues preventing access or repairing faults in a timely manner and keep notes on them on CRM.

  • Work with engineers to determine return visit dates and any works required on second/return visits etc.

  • Assist with diary management, holiday cover and order input for the admin team where required.

Assistant Accountant

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious individual to further develop their career in Accounts. You will be part of a busy Accounts team providing the provision of accounting services ensuring their accuracy, completeness and compliance with group policies for Thorlux and its sister companies within the F W Thorpe Plc Group.


  • Prepare, produce, analyse and report on accounts up to Trial Balance for relevant group companies, including transaction processing work where required

  • Balance sheet reconciliations and monthly analysis of allocated accounts

  • Administration of petty cash, any cash advances and canteen cash

  • Administration of motor vehicles (e.g. Fines, Tax, MOT, Purchase, Insurance, Sales, Valuations, Registrations, Service record maintenance)

  • Raising of sundry invoices (e.g. staff purchases; fixed asset sales)

  • KPI reporting for allotted KPIs

  • Co-ordination and reporting of personnel numbers across the Group.

  • Analyses of company credit cards expenditure

  • Prepare VAT, sales listings and intrastat returns for relevant group companies

  • Monthly CIS reconciliation

  • Support the Financial Accountant and Group Financial Controller with inter-company transactions, reconciliations and year-end accounts

  • Support the Management Accountant and Group Financial Controller with management reporting

  • Prepare reporting of National Statistics requirements

  • Provide cover to other parts of the finance and payroll functions

  • Undertake ad-hoc projects and financial analysis as required

  • Other duties commensurate with the skills and experience of the person in the role

Cost Engineer


  • Maintain material and labour details in the company Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system; Movex, and alter Bill of Materials (BOMs) accordingly

  • Check all new Items and BOM’s loaded onto the company MRP system are correct / update accordingly / cost roll and sign off

  • Check any altered BOMs to see if it has any implications on costs and selling prices

  • Ensure all items have material and labour costs associated with them and if not investigate

  • Calculate selling prices based on relevant costs

  • Maintain accurate price reports and investigate any price differences from previous report

  • Provide selling prices for Home Trade and Export markets, calculate specials based on information provided

  • Help maintain prices on the company’s various published pricelists (online and internal systems)

  • Check purchase prices and make alterations on company MRP system if necessary

  • Produce cost / selling price reports as and when requested

  • General office duties and support other cost office requirements as required

Addition Tasks:

  • Provide pricing information as and when requested

  • Provide breakdown of costs when asked

  • Create estimated costs / selling prices based on drawings provided by the design office

  • Create BOMs and routings for components based on drawings provided by the design office

  • From time studies – update the company MRP system accordingly and also check part numbers similar and make changes accordingly

  • Check and update BOMs based on price recommendations from team leaders

  • Develop reports using the company’s reporting system - Qlikview

Commissioning Engineer/Electricians - Posts in Redditch and Manchester


To provide on-site assistance for, and commissioning of Thorlux Lighting controls systems.


  • Liaise with customers to advise on installation, connection and basic fault finding on all Thorlux Lighting control systems.

  • To arrange site visits with relevant parties from contractors to end users, in order to enable timely and effective commissioning of all control systems or site rectification work.

  • To keep active records on all projects to enable generation of commissioning certificates upon satisfactory completion of the commissioning process. To then ensure all relevant invoicing is carried out.

  • To report back on all issues relating to product defect/performance issues, and to actively advise on improvements.

  • To assist with testing of control system site and customer returns and relevant paperwork.

  • To carry out any other task delegated to you by the Site Services & Contracts Manager, the Site Services Team Leader or the Senior Commissioning Engineer.

You must hold a valid, and up to date, 17th Edition certificate and ideally possess a CSCS and ECS card.

The role based UK wide, so, a car will be provided. There will be the requirement for occasional over nights stops which are fully expensed.
