Regional Sales Engineer (United Arab Emirates)

The role:-

You will generate business within a network of existing and new customers in the UAE. You will support engineering consultants, contractors and End-Users in the design and / or specification of lighting projects with the Thorlux and other FW Thorpe lighting brands and will be involved in commercial negotiations. You will manage all aspects of the project process with support from colleagues in other departments, from initial contact with the local customer until the successful delivery of the project. In some cases also providing some initial site supervision where required.

Main duties will consist of:-

  • Product presentations to specifiers, distributors & End-Users
  • General lighting education support (CPDs / technology updates) to specifiers, distributors & End Users
  • Supporting customers with technical lighting advice & lighting designs
  • Commercial negotiations with distributors, contractors & End Users
  • Site survey work / Energy audits (related to lighting)
  • Liaising with UK and international teams to share and discuss project leads and information
  • Maintaining CRM database and project / sales reports

Successful candidate:-

  • Must have: Minimum of 5 years lighting related experience
  • Must have: Good and recent working knowledge of using Dialux and /or Relux
  • Must have: Good knowledge of British lighting guides and standards (CIBSE / SLL)
  • Must have: Excellent social and inter-personal skills, an extrovert personality and be self-motivated
  • Must have: Excellent written and fluent spoken English
  • Must have: Experience dealing with contracting companies
  • Must have: Driving licence
  • Preferably: Has engineering experience and / or engineering qualifications
  • Preferably: Has lighting qualifications (LIF / SLL)
  • Preferably: Has a good working knowledge of emergency lighting products, design & practices, especially to UAE / NFPA standards
  • Preferably: Is living in Dubai or is prepared to re-locate to Dubai
  • Preferably: Has a history working in or being exposed to the Middle Eastern markets

Salary will be commensurate with industry standards and in accordance with relevant experience.

Distribution Controller

Working in a fast moving Despatch Department the role involves supporting the coordination and control of our transport/distribution operation. This would involve the output of products in a timely and efficient manner by optimising our vehicles/shipments whilst ensuring our customer requirements are met.

The ideal candidate will already have gained a number of years’ experience within a similar environment, with a good working knowledge of WTD, Domestic Regulations, EU Drivers hours/vehicle and driver compliance and FORS. You will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills incorporating the ability to work under pressure in a controlled and timely manner.

Lighting Design & Site Survey Support Engineer – South / South East Area.

As a result of our continuing growth a vacancy has arisen for a Lighting Design & Site Survey support role working from home. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly successful and long established manufacturer.

The role:-

You will actively support our London/South East sales teams in a design and technical capacity. You will be expected to co-ordinate and manage projects from conception through to order stage and assist with any after sales care.

Main duties will consist of:-

  • Lighting design for a wide variety of applications, both internal and external.
  • Assisting with on-site surveying.
  • Attending design/concept meetings with clients.
  • Production of 2D AutoCAD schematic drawings.
  • Planning of Thorlux innovative lighting and emergency lighting control systems.
  • Energy analysis and payback calculations.

Successful candidate:-

  • 5 GCSE’s at C grade or above which includes Maths and English
  • Completed the LIF / LIA certificate course and preferably, although not essential, passed two of the advanced modules.
  • Has a minimum of 3 years lighting design experience.
  • Has knowledge of British Standards and SLL Lighting Guides.
  • Has an in-depth knowledge with either DIALux or Relux.
  • Has experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office packages.
  • Have strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, but also happy to work as a part of a team.
  • Enjoy problem solving, have an ability to establish priorities and cope with pressure.
